Reports claim that Microsoft are set to launch Windows Phone 7 at an event in New York on October 11th.
The statement comes from a number of anonymous sources, who claim to have insider knowledge. However, the rumour is likely to be true, with Microsoft earlier announcing they would unveil their new OS in the US in mid-October. Windows Phone 7 is expected to launch in the UK a month later in November.
There is already a lot of hype surrounding Windows Phone 7, which brings with it a much cleaner and improved interface. It also sports an Internet Explorer based web browser with pinch-to-zoom, multi-touch, and sharp, clear text due to the use of sub-pixel positioning on web pages. We can also expect it to bring an exciting new mobile gaming concept, as we recently confirmed X-Box live will be releasing games, such as Guitar Hero 5 and Halo, the new operating system.
LG, Samsung and HTC are among the manufacturers that have confirmed plans to bring Windows Phone 7 smartphones to market this year.
