The broadband, TV and phone provider, Virgin Media, has announced that it will be providing a high speed network in order to support the NorthernNet project.
The deal will be run through the Virgin Media business division.
It will help deliver high speed digital backbone to serve the creative and digital industries in the north of England.
NorthernNet was created so that business involved in the creative sector can have the same network access as business located in the larger cities and towns of the UK, where the infrastructure has seen more investment in recent years.
According to the head of public sector North for Virgin Media Business, Mark Smith, this is a project that can assist local businesses to grow and will have great economic benefits for the region.
