    Samsung Genio Slide Connectivity

The Genio Slide is a perfect texters’ companion, with its sights set firmly on the kids who need social networking, email, SMS and MMS messages to fly from their phones at a rate of knots. In order to make sure that this is possible, you would expect that the Samsung Genio Slide connectivity options would need to be particularly comprehensive and this is undoubtedly the case. The Genio Slide is the most capable of the Genio range when it comes to connectivity and so it is easy to recommend over its peers because it will offer faster mobile internet access and speedier messaging functions.

Most people will enjoy the Samsung Genio Slide connectivity via the onboard 3G and HSDPA networking compatibility. In theory this conspires to allow a maximum download speed of up to 7.2Mbps, which is currently the fastest that UK network providers can support. However, depending on who you choose to go with and where you are in the country, the speed you can actually achieve will probably be a bit lower. When compared to older GSM and EDGE networking speeds, the 3G connection on the Genio Slide will appear as a gift and it is the only handset in the Genio range to sport this essential modern feature. Without 3G you will be left waiting whilst web pages load and files will download at a painfully slow rate that will remind some people of the days before broadband replaced dial-up.

The 3G portion of the Samsung Genio Slide connectivity is useful when you are on the move and do not know where you will be settling, but because it uses your provider’s networks to download data, you will usually be charged for any surfing that you perform. As a result the cheaper option for getting online is to find a Wi-Fi hotspot and connect to it using the onboard wireless connectivity that is offered by the Genio Slide. Wi-Fi is a standard feature at the high end of the mobile phone market, but the Genio can outpace many of its contemporaries at the mid range because of its inclusion. There are wireless hotpots littering the country in their thousands and most people will have access to one at home, at work and even when they are having lunch in a bar or restaurant. Wi-Fi speeds will usually be faster than 3G and you will not pay your provider for any data that you use.

The Samsung Genio Slide connectivity options are completed with assisted-GPS for mapping and navigation use. Assisted-GPS is a term which basically describes a navigation service which works even when there is plenty of potential interference from things such as buildings. It could take unassisted GPS systems ages to vaguely position you in built-up areas, but the assisted-GPS of the Genio Slide can find you quickly and precisely wherever you are. You can use the GPS feature to find your way on foot or by car and it can also be used to geo-tag pictures that you snap with the camera for subsequent uploading.

The benefits of having faster connectivity onboard should be clear. The Samsung Genio Slide makes a point of encouraging the user to make use of its high speed connections by including the BBC iPlayer app straight from the box and so you can catch up on your favourite TV shows via a Wi-Fi connection. The social networking features also benefit, as you can update your status on Facebook or keep an eye on the latest Twitter posts when ever you like. If you regularly receive emails with large attachments, you can get the Genio Slide to forward these to you for examination and downloading them onto the phone will not require an hour of your time and a few pounds on your bill.
