It is a fairly common site to see people watching video clips on their mobile phones these days, particularly on the regular daily commute to and from work. What is less common, though, is people watching live TV on their phone. To encourage more usage of this, Nokia have announced the release of a DVB-H tuner accessory, which will work with the forthcoming Nokia N8 and other Symbian^3 handsets.
With the Nokia Mobile TV headset, you will be able to turn your handset into a portable digital TV, and tune in to watch the latest sport or live entertainment directly on the handset. As you are receiving digital TV signal, the watching of TV has no effect on your data allowance, and it is also better for your battery than watching a TV program via a web stream.
Which all sounds great, but there’s always a downside. DVB-H technology is still pretty new, and isn’t always available, so make sure you check on availability in your area before you buy the receiver. You will also need the Mobile TV app on your device, which can be downloaded from nokia.com/support or the OVI Store, if not pre-installed on your device.
