It seems that someone has been able to scoop out one of Apple’s more interesting patents for mobile phones and this one details an audio jack with a built in microphone functionality.
In more ways than one, we are certainly wondering why this piece of technology is not implemented in the recently released iPhone 4. At this point, the audio jack for the Apple iPhone is located in an inconvenient spot. The patent not only adds functionality to the audio jack, but also provides a better location for the port.
Of course, the new technology is expected to be supported by advanced noise filtering and speech recognition software that would allow the technology to make and receive calls a lot easier.
At this point, the Google Nexus One Android smart phone already supports a dual speaker setup that allows it to filter out noise and make better quality calls as compared to other handsets. Apple will need to get these patented technologies out on their products if they hope to compete with their biggest rival.
Nokia has announced the C6-01 smart phone and despite the initial confusion about what the handset truly is, it appears that the C6-01 will share strikingly similar features to the original C6, though this new phone will not be sporting a slide out, physical QWERTY keyboard (which is certain to disappoint many folks who are anticipating the feature to be present).
The initial confusion about the C6-01 was caused by a mislabeled advertisement that placed the C6-01 with the C6-00 label. While things got a little sidetracked, Nokia easily cleared up the issue.
Samsung is keeping the world waiting as the Galaxy Tab is nearing the final countdown. So far, there is no word as to when the device will actually be out, what the final specs are and what version of the Android will be used.
