If you’re fed up with the iPad delays (it’s the end of next month now), and fancy an alternative web tablet, then the JooJoo may well be worth a look.
The JooJoo is now available in the UK, and it might have a rather silly sounding name, but it’s got a bigger display than the fabled iPad at 12 inches (versus Apple’s 10).
Powered by an Atom N270 processor, the device comes with a 4GB solid state drive, 1GB of memory and wi-fi.
It will also boast a webcam, unlike the iPad (although a future version of the iPad probably will carry a camera – Lord only knows when that will be released on these shores).
The JooJoo also runs Linux, and costs a bit less than the most basic iPad is likely to run to, at £334 (which includes shipping to the UK).
JooJoo apparently means “magical object”, and amusingly, CEO Steve Jobs famously referred to Apple’s super-tablet as a “magical” device.
We suspect, however, that if you try and pull a rabbit out of either of them, you’ll come up empty-handed.
