Of course, there’s a price to pay for going down the one year route, namely high handset pricing.
Yes, you can get an iPhone 4 32GB on a £20 per month contract, over a year, but the handset will cost you £429; although you will get 250 minutes a month, unlimited texts and a generous 1GB data allowance. £429 is £170 less than the SIM-free price, so you’ll be paying just £70 more over the year (£5.83 per month).
Suddenly, buying SIM-free might not be such a great option after all.
The phone can also be purchased on prepay, with triple clubcard points, for:
- iPhone 3GS 8GB: £385
- iPhone 4 16GB: £479
- iPhone 4 32GB: £569
Prepay users will get 1GB per month for 12-months, as well as unlimited BT Openzone Wi-Fi access, along with triple clubcard points for every £1 spent on a top-up. Tesco Mobile also offers half price calls and texts to your five favourite numbers.
