Having a tablet is like having instant access to all the fun things on a computer without the fuss of having to wait for long boot ups.
But more than that, Apple’s iPad is poised to change the way we live our lives by placing up to date and relevant information right at our fingertips in a medium that is far more convenient than any other device has managed to deliver.
Back then, the big compromise with computers was that you get all the info you need, the ability to play any form of media and all the storage space for files at the cost of having to handle complicated installations, high energy consumption and that sense of laziness that keeps you from moving away from the computer once it has been turned on.
Mobile phones and 3G on the other hand, give you quick bites of info (bites of bytes if you would) at the compromise of having a small screen and limited accessibility to online content. After all, mobile phone browsers can only have so much space.
The iPad brings the best of both worlds. Imagine the speed and convenience of a mobile phone, with the large computer screen resolution and hardware.
The iPad comes with a 9.7 inch touch screen display that has a resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels. It can handle multi touch and also has an onscreen keyboard. The processor on this half inch slim device is a high speed 1GHz CPU. Overall, this is virtually a net book.
The initial demonstration of the tablet during the launch showcased the device’s ability to handle 3D games. It is also capable of handling e-books (McGraw-Hill recently confirmed that it was bringing material to the iPad).
