Toshiba and Fujitsu both release hardly any mobile phone handsets in Europe. However, it’s still big news that they have agreed to merge their units which make mobile phone handsets.
The merged company will become Japan’s number two supplier of mobile phones behind another company that’s quiet on mobile devices in Europe, Sharp. It may also have the risk taking ability to try expanding further into Europe and the Americas.
At the moment, Toshiba is only selling one device in the UK, but it’s a top specification smartphone with a 1Ghz processor called the Toshiba TG01. We’re hoping that the TG02 and K01 will be released this year too.
