As the results come in, the General Election has returned to its normal slow paced declarations and results.
The only exciting features of the entire election build up were the leaders’ debates.
These debates really showed the people of the country a different side of the leaders, but it seems that the current Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, was not too impressed with these debates, claiming that they were a novelty and in fact may have actually clouded the election campaigns.
However, from a viewer’s point of view, these debates created a new avenue from which the electorate could make a decision based on the person, rather than the marketing that surrounds the parties.
The truth is that live debates are the future of politics and the leaders will have to become used to them.
