In a nutshell: A good mid-range BlackBerry, offering a full QWERTY keyboard, mobile e-mail, media player, plenty of memory, GPS receiver, 3G and Wi-Fi. The display and the camera are pretty basic though.
Best buy: *Free* with free line rental from Dialaphone (Black) or direct from Three.
Review: September 2010.
OK, here’s another BlackBerry to add to the mix. RIM are really churning out new models at a fast rate. The 9300 Curve 3G is a mid-range model – more expensive than the BlackBerry 8520, cheaper than the BlackBerry Bold 9700. And its capabilities, unsurprisingly, sit somewhere between these two models as well.
Physically, the device is almost identical to the 8520. In fact you’d be hard pressed to tell them apart. The full QWERTY keyboard isn’t as polished as the Bold’s, but it certainly beats the alphanumeric keypad of the Pearl 3G. As the name suggests, the Curve 3G takes the basic 8520 and adds 3G. Also added is a GPS receiver with BlackBerry Maps. So, read our review of the 8520 and decide if it’s worth paying a little extra for these features. Or, read our Bold 9700 review and ask yourself if you should pay more still and get a better camera, a better display, more memory, a bigger battery and a superior keyboard. We’d recommend going the whole hog and treating yourself to the Bold 9700, but hey, it’s not our money that we’re spending!

Bought a new Blackberry Curve 3G for my wife, and she’s had it a few days now and we both absolutely love it!! I’m not sure I’ve enough space to list all the good things about this phone: nice screen, easy to set up, looks good, lightweight, great QWERTY keyboard that works really well when texting/emailing, loads of apps to download that work really well (Facebook, Twitter etc), everything on the phone just works in a clear and sensible fashion. More importantly, we got this phone £FREE on Orange with 100 minutes, unlimited texts, and unlimited email and internet for just £20 per month (24 month contract)!!! My wife was spending £10 per month on her old PAYG phone, so this deal was a no brainer. Great phone, available at very competitive prices, I am now looking to get one to replace my Nokia 5800. Highly recommended!!
