Updated Apple iPad mobile data price comparison table
Here’s our guide to the cost of ownership for the iPad on different mobile broadband offerings, including an update now that Three has joined the party. If you are willing to go without GPS, there’s also an alternative option that could save even more money.
The iPad goes on sale in the UK on Friday May 28th 2010.
The prices shown are for the cost of ownership over 12 and 18 months (the latter being so you can compare it to what you’d generally expect if you bought a mobile phone on contract).
We’ve included the daily prices, which is only for a comparison – even though you’re never going to actually pay a daily rate, unless you’re mad!
Only O2, Orange, Vodafone – and now Three – offer Micro SIM cards for use in the iPad, although it is possible to trim a normal SIM card to fit. If you’re willing to take the risk of destroying your current SIM, you could find even more competitive mobile broadband deals.
* The Three option includes a MiFi portable Wi-Fi hotspot with mobile broadband connection. It has 1GB-15GB of data (per month) included on a 18-month contract only. Additional data can be purchased on top – see Three’s website for details. The MiFi may be used with up to 5 Wi-Fi enabled devices simultaneously. PLEASE NOTE THE WI-FI MODEL DOES NOT INCLUDE GPS.
