Android Smartphone Huawei Ideos Deals Due in October

    September 3rd, 2010 by Caroline

If you’re on the lookout for a decent yet inexpensive Android smartphone, then you’ll be pleased to know Huawei has just launched such a device.

Due to start shipping in October, the Huawei Ideos, also known as the Huawei U8150, is a budget Google Android-based device that runs on the newest 2.2 Froyo version of the OS. This ensures it packs a decent punch despite its low-cost nature. For example, the handset can act as a wireless hotspot for several mobile phones, and there is support for voice dialling and voice navigation too.

In the official announcement, Kevin Tao, CEO of Huawei Device, said: “The IDEOS is an affordable option, designed to lower the barriers to the smartphone market, allowing everyone to easily access the mobile internet.”

The Ideos has a 2.8 inch touchscreen with an inbuilt accelerometer so you can switch the screen to landscape view according to the feature you’re currently using. As an affordable smartphone, the screen uses resistive technology so requires firmer presses than higher-end devices with capacitive screens – however, should this pose any issue, you can always use a stylus to navigate the phone.

There is ample connectivity support onboard this Huawei phone, including 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth. And of course there will be Google apps pre-installed together with access to the Android Market should you want to download additional features. The internal memory can be boosted to an impressive 32GB using a microSD card so there is ample space for photos, videos, music and data.

Huawei Ideos deals should be available from the middle of next month and the mobile phone has an approximate price tag of £99 to £129. Offered in various colour choices including blue, yellow and pink, the Ideos looks set to be a good addition to the affordable Android market – do you agree? Would the combination of small price, Android 2.2, 3.2-megapixel camera, 3G and Wi-Fi support be enough to convince you to buy this handset? You can find out more about the phone and leave comments too, over on our Huawei Ideos reviews page.
