Acer Stream joins Flow of new Android Smartphones

With the Android Operating System becoming popular with manufacturers and consumers alike, there has been a large number of Android Smartphone’s launched recently, like the HTC Magic and the Samsung Galaxy S to name two. Yesterday Acer made it known in a press conference in Beijing that they were going to launch an Android Smartphone called the Acer Stream that would be released sometime later in the year.

Acer adefinitely can’t be accused of under selling the new Smartphone as they are calling the device “The Perfect Entertainment machine” (nothing to live up to their then!!). To be fair Acer’s new offering definitely packs enough hardware to make it a great device for mobile entertainment, but you could probably say that about a lot of the current Smartphone’s on the market, who have pretty similar specs to the Acer Stream.

The Acer Stream does have some great features including a 3.7 inch Amoled touchscreen and runs on the Google Android 2.1 operating system. The user interface is pretty cool with a layout that we haven’t seen before and the use of animations and a 3D interface that users can use to unlock the phone by peeling back the corner (a feature Borrowed from Acer’s Aspire touchscreen Desktop computers) make it fun and different.

Other features of the Acer Smartphone includes a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 5 megapixel camera capable of recording 720p HD video which you can playback on a high definition TV using an HDMI output, 512MB RAM, 2GB internal storage, a microSD card, Bluetooth, GPS,Wi-Fi, HSPA are all there too and are all features you would expect on a Smartphone these days. The Acer Stream also comes with some applications already loaded including Facebook, Acer UrFooz, Nemo Player and Twitter clients among them.

The Acer Stream is definitely a high end Smartphone as its technical hardware and the features onboard testify and will no doubt be priced accordingly. It looks a very good phone indeed and is stylish and compact. It might not quite be up there with a Smartphone of the calibre of the HTC Desire, but it doesn’t fall too far short. There is no release date confirmed for the UK yet, but you can expect to see it reaching shops by late summer, early autumn. We’d also expect the phone to be offered on Monthly contracts like Acer’s last offering the beTouch E110, which is available with O2 and T-Mobile.
